I was torn between the 577 or an 812 or 928. This 577 seems to lack some heel support. It makes you feel like flat feet. The upper Velcro strap is too short to fully enclose over the foot. These shortcomings are probably due to my foot configuration as it is an excellent, good looking shoe and a good buy if applicable. I am going to purchase the 928 but you are out of stock.

The Velcro straps are too short. Part of the hook is left exposed and catches on the bottoms of slacks, damaging the material. Two more expensive New Balance models do not have this problem.

These are my husband’s work shoes. He won’t wear anything else. And as usual, shipping was fast and free.

My Dad wanted sneakers he could “exercise” in – basically to do stretching and calisthenics in the house. He likes the Velcro closures and feels that the length is good. He feels that the width is a little tight, but that might just be because the leather is still stiff on the shoes. Overall, he is very happy with these shoes and these are the 3rd pair of New Balances he’s owned. He likes them so much that he forgets he has them on and has to stop himself from wearing them outside to garden.

I have been wearing this shoe style for at least 14 years, never a problem, support is what I want, color lasts with only a wash and shoe saver, hook-loop could be a bit stronger but last OK. Replace after 3-4 years, or only use in garden work. 100% satisfied.

I love these shoes. I am 5’9″ but I wear a size 13 4E (my wife says that my feet need their own zip code, and that my feet arrive 30 seconds before the rest of my body). Oh well I guess I do look somewhat like a snowshoe rabbit. Anyway these shoes fit well, wear well, and are very comfortable. I’ll be buying more.

All my New Balance shoes are 8W and always fit perfectly even with heavy socks. Not these. Way too tight and not wide enough. I knew right away when I was trying to put them on…it was a struggle. Don’t know why these were so off the normal fit I have experienced with NB.

I purchased these shoes for general walking. The shoes were well made and up to the New Balance standards I expect. I have a very high instep so I had to return the shoes for a lace-up pair. The lace-up models allow for a higher instep that the fixed length velcro straps.

I only buy me577vw shoes. I have about 6 pair now. I write date inside heel. I have noticed varying strap lengths. Some short and some longer and it’s noticeable by how dirty the sewn in hooks on shoe body. It’s not been a issue, but it is worth my comment. I also wear orthotics 100% of the time.

I bought a pair of New Balance tennis shoes with velcro straps for my uncle, who is 101 years old and a veteran of Pearl Harbor.
He only likes New Balance tennis shoes. Since his old pair had laces and he has trouble tying his shoes, the option of velcro straps was a no brainer.
He appreciated and likes his new shoes. I recommend New Balance for the fit, construction, good looks.

It is hard to find 4 E wide shoes that are not leather. My elderly husband does not like a “heavy” shoe and he had been wearing the velcro strap 577 New Balance shoe for several years and this time found it very hard to find the shoe. Luckily Zappos had it!!

My husband is in a nursing home with walking issues. After trying about 20 pair of his shoes , the only pair that came close was an old pair of NB sneakers. He had problems tying the laces. I got online and instantly found this pair of sneakers that didn’t have ties. He puts them on himself every day, and is learning to walk again. I will soon be looking for a NB upgrade.

take it or leave it: hipsters think they’re cute! They’re pretty ugly ngl, but chunky shoes are in so if you’re about it, then these really check all the boxes
