I 1st ordered NB 6.5 xw, but my feet are very wide and once I put on socks, they felt slightly too tight, length was good. I ordered the 7 xw, and although a bit too long the width was better. I have Rheumatoid Arthritis in my feet and podiatrist said I needed to wear tennis shoes all the time if possible. I’ve never been a tennis shoe wearer except to the gym, but the comfort and the pain alleviation overroad my resistance. Nice cushioning. I wish more of the better tennis shoes came in xw, some come in w but most are in med. I wish NB had more of a selection in navy xw, but the only ones I found were in the children sizes.
I do recommend wearing Alegria shoes for a dressier shoe. They come in European sizes; but are nice and wide and the clogs have a nice rounded toe and if some styles are slightly tight, I just put in my shoe stretcher with liquid shoe stretch sprayed on the inside and outside, and leave in a few days, then I’m able to get that slight stretch I need. It’s mostly the clog that I do that stretch due to my high arches. The sandals and slip ins fit perfectly. They are also very cute with colored patterns on them.

I have had several pairs of the 880. I always buy the same size. These were much larger than previous versions. I will be returning for smaller size.

This review is directed specifically to ladies with narrow feet. I tried on many, many pairs of walking shoes, and this was one of only two pairs that fit in the heel. (The other one was the Brooks Ghost 15.) These shoes are comfortable and presentable looking. For someone with my foot issues and fitting problems, this is actually high praise.

The size and fit were fine but the color was MUCH brighter and more hot pink than light peach as depicted in the picture.

Comfortable shoe. No “breaking in” period needed. This shoe ran true to size with a comfortable shoe bed.

I am so dissapointed. I have been ordering New Balance for years. These are way to tight. Too narrow, too short. Toe box is too small.
Judy –
They run small, had to go up a half size. There was almost no arch support which was very different from my previous New Balance 880.
I was able to find inserts that work so I kept them. The style and colors are great.

I was really excited to get this pair in the mail and wear them for walking this summer. When I first tried them on, I was thinking “yessss, this is the pair!”. However, it didn’t take me long to realize that they actually run a bit shorter than I’m used to for a New Balance sneaker. I ordered a 10.5 (which is what I have been wearing in New Balance sneakers – the 1080 and 860 – for a few years now. In this pair though, the 10.5 is a bit shorter and my toes are at the top of the shoe. Unfortunately, I cannot return them now because I wore them for a walk already. Note to future purchasers of this pair of sneakers … please try these shoes on and walk around your house for a while in them before deciding to keep them – I wish I had!

I need to use orthotics and my orthotics are quite thick. I thought they would fit in this shoe, but once I put them in, there was no room for my foot. I tried the shoe without the orthotic and it was difficult to get on. It was too small and very uncomfortable. I have always worn a 6W in New Balance and Saucony, so I am not sure what the problem was with this shoe, but there is no way I can wear it. also the toe box was quite tapered. This makes a shoe look nice, but when you have Hallux Rigidus a tapered toe box puts too much pressure on those big toe joints. It’s extremely difficult to find a shoe that is comfortable. I had 3 pair of Saucony Echelon 8s, and then with the 9 they changed the shoe, tapered the toe and did something else to it that made it impossible for me to wear. I thought I could find a New Balance shoe to replace it, but I guess not. The search goes on and on and on.

Every time I wore them around the house, my feet and calves were achey. Not sure why but not the fit for me.
Ginger –
First, I need a neutral shoe and there aren’t as many choices in neutral shoes. I have a small foot, but a high arch and high instep. I have hallux rigidus & metatarsalgia in my right foot so I use a fairly thick orthotic in addition to a carbon fiber plate to keep my toes from bending. As you can imagine shoes are difficult to find. Based on my research I thought this shoe would work, but it didn’t. I was able to put my orthotic in it, but then I could barely get my foot in . So, I took out the orthotic and tried the shoe with the sock liner that came in the shoe. It still felt very tight ( almost like a stability shoe), and it was very uncomfortable. I couldn’t wear it and sent it back.

Expanded width is great for my wide feet. Felt stable and secure without being overly squishy.

Wish the fit was the same as the prior model but too short in the toes

This was the first New Balance I was totally unimpressed with. Fresh Foam is definitely NOT for a narrow, flat footed person.

Not nearly as cushioned as I was hoping! I got these for working long hours on my feet and was hopeful at first given the amount of padding in the sole and heel. However, after just a couple hours my feet, heels, and ankles were already in pain with several hours left in my shift.

It looks like v14 has a complete redesign of the sole and heel. Earlier versions of 880 kept me feet from overpronating and prevent injury. These seem to do the opposite! I was in pain after one short moderate walk and then compared the heel/back profile side by side with my v12 and v13 NB880s. It’s totally different! These also didn’t feel like they have the signature FreshFoam “bounce” that provides a comfortable ride.
Loribelle –
I want to love the shoes, it’s cute and light but the heel is rubbing against my skin every step and it got irritated afterward. Sadly I have to return.

Usually wear a size 9 med width but needed a size 10 in this New Balance model. The size 9 was terribly narrow n short in length. The 9.5 was so close to the 9 , I thought it was an error in labeling. The third pair I ordered was a 10 med…fit perfectly. I wear a 9 in all my other NB, addis, etc. SUPER comfortable and great colors, soft mint, grey, white with silver accents. They look fantastic with shorts in all shades of grey, black, white and even dark blue. Nice shoe overall, but ORDER SIZE UP!

They look pretty good for a black tennis shoe. I wear a 6 1/2 but ordered a 7 and fits perfectly. I normally order a half size larger in tennis shoes. I’m pleased !

The shoes fit great. Have them in white so ordered black. I was absolutely disgusted and disappointed with the condition of these shoes. Never have I received an item from Zappos that looked like these shoes did. They were obviously worn, dirty, laces were untied and tissue paper a mess. Whomever thought it was acceptable to send out should be embarrassed. I called customer service. I returned shoes for a refund and then I could reorder. Not sure I want to purchase through Zappos again for these shoes.

Love, love, love!

I love them!!! At a size 11, it isn’t easy to find a shoe and fits and doesn’t make my feet look like boats! These fit great, are very comfortable, supportive and look nice. Thank you!

I like the support around my ankle and it feels stable and comfortable.
